Case Number 13
A 50 year white female found a mass 12/17/82 after she bumped her breast and
noted soreness in the breast. The patient thought that she had bruised the
breast, but no discoloration was noted. Hormone history revealed that the
patient had taken Premarin 1.25mg daily for years.
A mammogram done on 12/29/82 showed a normal right breast. Mammogram results
for the left breast were as follows- "no skin thickening, nipple retraction,
or increased vascularity but a 2.5 x 2.3 cm poorly defined mass is present in
the midline, above the nipple. Fine sand-like calcifications are present in
the mass. Rule out cancer."
Surgery was performed and the pathology revealed a duct cell carcinoma with
negative lymph nodes. Receptor values were- Estrogen 18 Femoles,
Progesterone-0 Femoles.
